Private lunch date for equine royalty
THE billionaire JP McManus was among the Irish equine royalty who supped with the Queen at a private lunch at Coolmore Stud last Friday.
Mr McManus and his wife Noreen, who own Martinstown Stud in Limerick, were among 10 guests at a lunch party hosted by the racing tycoon, John Magnier.
Members of the late Vincent O'Brien's racing dynasty joined the Queen and Prince Philip for the lunch after a tour of the world's biggest breeding operation in Fethard, Co Tipperary.
The Queen slipped off for the private visit after her official tour of the Rock of Cashel.
More than 300 gardai were deployed to police Coolmore and its surrounding areas for the short royal visit.
The Queen attended another private lunch with the Aga Khan, at his Gilltown Stud in Kilcullen, Co Kildare, last Thursday.
