THE name 'Priory Hall' is to be dropped from the notorious firetrap development, once Dublin City Council assumes control of the complex and makes it safe under a proposed government deal to resolve the debacle.
A source told the Irish Independent that the €10m refurbishment will include:
* The development will remain a mix of private and social housing, as per the original planning permission.
* A moratorium on buy-to-let owners repaying mortgages on their apartments will remain in effect until the renovations are complete, a process expected to take two years.
* The grounds will be restored and landscaped as part of the deal.
* Ultimately the name of the development will be changed.
The council did not respond to questions asking how many of the apartments would be put back on the market, and how many would end up as social housing.
The spokesman added: "The residents are considering the confidential proposals put to them."
