Prince to visit ancestral home

PRINCE Albert of Monaco is expected to return to his family's ancestral home during his visit to Ireland next week.

The prince will visit the dilapidated cottage in Newport, Co Mayo, which was the home of his great-grandfather in the 1800s. His two-day visit will be on the 50th anniversary of a similar trip by his late mother and father, former Hollywood actress Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier, in 1961.

UPC subscribers lose channels

SUBSCRIBERS to UPC's digital television will no longer be able to access certain ITV channels as of today.

The company has withdrawn channels ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 from the UPC line-up, effective from midnight last night -- but only released details of this after 7pm. It insisted it did "everything we could but we were not in a position to extend the contract" with ITV which has gone to another company. UPC will continue to carry UTV.

Independent.ie Comments Facility

INM has taken the decision to remove the commenting facility on its online platform Independent.ie to minimise the legal risk to our business that arises from Ireland's draconian libel awards system.

We continue to look forward to receiving comments through direct email contact or via social media, some of which may still be featured on the website Independent.ie
