Prince gets his spurs into a horse called Henry

NOW he's sucking diesel.

The mischievous Duke of Edinburgh was in full form and up to his old tricks yesterday when he played havoc with a rocking horse called Henry.

Trainee jockey Sophie Ralston (18) from Craughwell, Co Galway, was giving a decorous demonstration at the Irish National Stud on board the racing simulator for the royal visitors and was going at a respectable trot when the prince's natural curiosity kicked in.

"Can it gallop flat out?" he wondered. Yes, it did, he was told. But that wasn't enough for the hands-on prince and he wanted to see some real action.

Instructor Barry Walsh duly turned up the dial on old Henry and sent Sophie galloping for her life. Luckily, there's nothing a jockey likes more than a good chase and she took it all in her stride.

"It really made everyone laugh," she said, adding that she can now say she has ridden for the queen.
