The priest who will tomorrow officiate at the funeral of Eddie Hutch Snr will call for an end to gangland violence.

Fr Richard Ebejer has said that he has spoken to the Hutch family ahead of the funeral - and that they want the spate of violence to end.

"In the course of the conversation, they were very clear that they want this to stop," he said.

"We pray that those involved will heed the call. The spiral of violence and revenge will lead nowhere," he said..

Fr Ebejer also officiated at the funeral Mass of Gary Hutch last October, after he was shot dead in Spain.
