President Michael D Higgins will deliver the keynote oration at the General Michael Collins ceremony at Béal na mBláth in west Cork.
He will deliver the oration to mark the 94th anniversary of the death of the former IRA director of intelligence and Free State finance minister.
The ceremony this year is expected to have a very high profile, given the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising and the build-up to the centenary of Collins' Civil War death in 2022.
The ceremony will take place at 3pm on Sunday, August 21.
Collins was shot and killed in an ambush at Béal na mBláth on August 22, 1922, as he returned to Cork city having completed an inspection tour of west Cork at the height of the Civil War.
He died from a bullet wound to the head.
Collins served as Ireland's finance minister from April 2, 1919, until his death, aged 31.
