President meets new judges for High Court

A NUMBER of new High Court judges celebrated their appointments with a meeting with President Michael D Higgins.
Judges Bernard Joseph Barton SC, Deirdre Murphy SC and Brian Cregan SC joined the President in Aras an Uachtarain yesterday following the announcements last month.The vacancies arose from the recent retirements from the High Court of the Hon Mr Justice John Cooke, the Hon Mr Justice Eamon de Valera and the Hon Ms Justice Maureen Harding Clark.
Mr Barton SC practises mainly in Tort and Contract Law and in Personal Injury Litigation. Ms Murphy SC practices mainly in Criminal Law, Judicial Review and Constitutional Law, while Mr Brian Cregan SC practises mainly in Commercial Law and Competition Law.
