Prayers for Cian as his family holds bedside vigil

COUNSELLING services have been offered to the family and friends of a University of Limerick student seriously injured following an accident on campus.

Cian Cleary, (22) from Kildysart, Co Clare suffered serious neck injuries after he and a group of friends jumped into the fountain in front of the Schuman building on the main UL campus.

The students had been out celebrating the end of their exams when the accident occurred shortly before 5am on Wednesday morning.

A final year business student, living in College Court in Castletroy, Mr Cleary condition was described last night as "critical but stable". Prayers were being said on campus yesterday.
