UP to 250 properties in the busy Grafton Street area of Dublin suffered a power cut at lunchtime today.
A number of businesses at the St Stephen's Green end of the capital's primary shopping area were forced to close for about 45 minutes while an ESB crew worked to fix the network.
An ESB spokesman said that the power cut was caused after a “third party” damaged an underground transformer.
He said: “The ESB was able to isolate the fault and has customers back within the hour.”
Dublin City Council said that repaving work, currently being undertaken on the street, was not the cause of the power outage.
