A POST-MORTEM will be carried out today on the body of a 50-year-old man who was found dead in his flat over the weekend.

Gardai are investigating the circumstances of the death, which they are treating as suspicious.

The body was discovered inside a ground-floor flat in the Stable Lane complex at Goldsmith Terrace, Bray, Co Wicklow. It is understood the body was discovered naked and with a head injury.

The man was named locally as Colin Ellard, a father of three who was originally from Monkstown Farm, Co Dublin.

The body was discovered shortly before 6pm on Saturday, on the floor of a flat where he lived alone.

Locals yesterday described him as "a quiet man" but said he had suffered a number of falls recently.

It is understood the man was taking Warfarin for a heart condition and had been unwell in recent days.

"He had taken a number of falls recently and wasn't very well," a local barman said.

"He used to come in here most nights for two or three pints. He was a nice guy, but very quiet. He generally kept to himself."

Gardai said it was too soon to establish a cause of death, but they were treating the death as suspicious.
