Postman's special delivery

A postman made a very special delivery -- by helping his baby son into the world.

Little Oran McKenna arrived via 'express' taking his mum Teresa and dad John by surprise.

With no time to rush his wife to hospital, postman John delivered the baby at home in Moynalty, Co Meath, last week.

Overdue by two days, Oran's delivery took just 12 minutes in the end.

John had called for an ambulance when he realised the baby was on his way, but Oran beat the paramedics to it.

He was born weighing 6lb 12oz and is the second child for Teresa and John, who have a 19-month-old daughter, Carleen, who slept through the drama.

Our picture, by Seamus Farrelly, shows John and Teresa with their son Oran yesterday.
