Mr Kenny is planning to visit the Sheriff Street area in what political sources have described as a 'listening exercise'.

The Fine Gael leader is due to meet community activists, teachers and local residents.

The meeting itself will be held in private and away from the media spotlight, sources have said.

It's understood the visit is scheduled for around 7:30pm.

The north inner city remains on edge following the recent murder of Gareth Hutch.

Mr Kenny recently announced a new task force for the area.
