Taoiseach arrives to warm reception ahead of meeting with Theresa May

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said he hopes Ireland and Britain can "build" on the good relationship the two country's share.

Arriving at Downing Street, Mr Kenny congratulated Theresa May on her appointment as Prime Minister.

Both leaders laughed, joked and shook hands in the White Room of Number 10 prior to their meeting.

Ms May acknowledged that the two government's have enjoyed a good relationship in the past and that she hopes this can continue.

The issue of the border between the Republic and the North is set to dominate the talks, which will continue until lunchtime on Tuesday.
