Addressing the US billionaire by his first name, Taoiseach Enda Kenny suggests a visit to the Doonbeg hotel and golf resort could be on the cards.
"See you in Doonbeg!" reads a scribbled note written by Mr Kenny on the bottom of his official letter to Donald Trump on March 5.
A keen golfer himself, Mr Kenny may well be alluding to a future round of golf at Mr Trump's luxurious complex.
The pair are not believed to have met face to face since the US billionaire announced a major multi-million-euro investment in Doonbeg last year.
The sale to Mr Trump included the five-star hotel, seven unsold suites and the Greg Norman-designed golf course.
Mr Trump has pledged to transform Doonbeg into a "truly iconic" golf destination in the west of Ireland.
