Garda whistleblower Superintendent Dave Taylor has returned to work after he was cleared of leaking information to the media.

Supt Taylor returned to the Garda traffic section in Dublin Castle yesterday, almost two years after he had been suspended from the force.

He was reinstated to his role with immediate effect on Monday after the DPP cleared him of allegations that he leaked information in relation to the Roma children controversy while he was the head of the Garda press office.

Supt Taylor said he was looking forward to this day, while proud wife Michelle looked on. "The troops in traffic have been brilliant. It has been a long road and I feel vindicated at last," Supt Taylor said.

"I'm just looking forward to some normality really. We had to wait a long time, but then things suddenly moved quickly in the end."
