Reform Alliance targets pensions

LUCINDA Creighton's grouping of former Fine Gael TDs will today launch a political reform plan calling for an end to ministerial pensions.
The Reform Alliance also wants to see TDs and senators being given more powers, term limits for ministers, a form of performance-related pay and changes to the role of junior ministers.
"It's about making a TD or a senator a serious politician," a source said.
The former Fine Gael TDs insist that the policy document is not about setting up a new political party but is a continuation of their development.
Speculation that the Reform Alliance is on the verge of launching as a party has been played down as premature.
Reform Alliance member Denis Naughten has ruled himself out of any new political party that may emerge from the group. The Roscommon South Leitrim TD has said he wants to contest the next general election as an Independent.
His decision is significant as he is seen as one of the Reform Alliance's heavy hitters.
