Mr Deasy (pictured) said he felt the garda bugging scandals and the handling of the penalty points crisis had damaged the Government.
"The poll figures weren't great. But definitely, we took a hit. The penalty points thing and the way that it was dealt with – the public felt that was very badly handled," he said.
"We were led to believe people would hear a feather drop in the Department of Justice.
"It is fair to say we now understand that if a bomb went off in the Department of Justice, some people wouldn't know about it for a couple of years."
