'My first Saturday as a Minister'

Kevin Humphries is evidently all about getting things done

Unlike fellow party colleague Pat Rabbitte, Kevin Humphries shows that he is a fan of gardening when he's not busy in Government.

The new Junior Minister for the Department of Social Protection today tweeted this picture of himself up a ladder trimming a hedge with the caption, "1st Saturday as a Minister. Glamorous!"

The Dublin South East Labour TD (56) dropped his formal government gear in favour of a more casual outfit of three-quarter length shorts, a green t-shirt and some a pair of sandals.

Pat Rabbitte recently said that he has no plans to step down from his role in government because he is "very bad at gardening".

Last week, Mr Humphries was appointed the newly-created Junior Minister for the Department of Social Protection to allow Joan Burton to devote more time to her new roles as Tánaiste and Labour Party leader.
