HIGH-profile mortgage expert David Hall is considering running as an independent candidate in the by-election sparked by Patrick Nulty's shock exit from politics.
Mr Hall, inset, said he had always been interested in becoming a national politician, and now it was time to "put up or shut up".
The Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation (IMHO) boss lives in Castleknock in west Dublin, where a by-election will take place following Mr Nulty's resignation over sending inappropriate messages to young women.
Mr Hall said: "The answer is I am interested. If I run, I will run as an Independent, I won't run for any party. There is enough party representation in Dublin West."
Since the crash, Mr Hall has been in high demand from homeowners with distressed mortgages.
He is a regular contributor to television and radio debates on the mortgage arrears crisis.
Mr Hall has said he was approached informally by Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and Labour about running in the European elections. But he said he had no interest in running for Europe and felt his constituency needed a strong independent candidate.
