FIANNA Fail leader Micheal Martin made no submission to the Local Electoral Boundary Commission despite likening its proposals to an act of gerrymandering.
Mr Martin was staunchly criticised after he claimed that the independently revised boundaries were "manipulated" in order to boost the seat numbers of Fine Gael and Labour.
The claim, made at the party's Ard Fheis last weekend, was rejected by Environment Minister Phil Hogan and commission member, DCU professor Gary Murphy.
The Irish Independent has learned that neither Mr Martin or the party head office made any submission to the independent body prior to the revised boundaries being announced.
