Former Minister Mary Hanafin is furious after details of her attacking Fianna Fáil's performance were leaked.

Minutes from a branch meeting record Ms Hanafin as describing Fianna Fáil as being in "stalemate", saying it "stands for nothing, has no vision and agrees with the Government on everything".

She confirmed last night that she was critical of the party's performance at the meeting, but said the minutes represent a "distortion of her views".

Nonetheless, the language in the minutes is likely to damage Ms Hanafin's chances at the convention to select election candidates. It will be closely watched, with rivalry between Ms Hanafin and Councillor Kate Feeney dating back to the local election campaign.
