She is affectionately known as 'Mammy' - but Mary O'Rourke was surrounded by her grandchildren as she launched her latest book.
The former Fianna Fáil deputy leader and Cabinet minister wrote 'Letters of My Life' after the success of her memoirs 'Just Mary' in 2012.
Ms O'Rourke will turn 80 next year, and in her new book she is in reflective mood.
'Letters of My Life' comprises 20 letters to people who have made an impression on her - from her childhood growing up in Athlone to her college days in Maynooth, to those who supported and mentored her during her political career.
Pat Kenny helped launch the book at the National Library ahead of his TV3 show last night.
