LABOUR Party rebel TDs, including former junior minister Roisin Shortall, are joining forces with some other left-wing deputies in a new grouping. Although not as formal an arrangement as the Fine Gael rebels newly-formed Reform Alliance, the five left-wing TDs will be coming together to promote shared views.
Labour TDs outside the party whip, Ms Shortall, Tommy Broughan and Patrick Nulty will join up with Independent TDs John Halligan and Thomas Pringle to publish a set of Budget proposals.
The relationship between the five TDs is being described as "organic co-operation on issues of like mind", rather than anything more firm.
But it is being seen as a sign that the TDs want to work together more and could be the start of a new political grouping.
