Hollywood can rest easy after Leo's first video address

Well, it's not going to win an IFTA for production design.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar issued his first weekly video address yesterday evening.

"Dear Friend," he wrote in the accompanying email. "Welcome to the first of my weekly video messages.

"Traditionally, these have been done in written form, but I'm going to do them as a video from now on to let you know about my work as Taoiseach."

But those expecting something inspiring may be disappointed.

The low production values meant it was not a rallying video.

Shot in one take, the video shows Mr Varadkar sitting at his desk, while he talks about Justin Trudeau, bins and Brexit.

He also tried to deny that the Dáil is moving slowly.

"There's some truth to that, but actually things have really sped up in the last little while...

"So a reasonably good week overall," he concluded.
