Hanafin tells colleagues: I'll be added to ticket
Former minister Mary Hanafin has told colleagues she believes she will be added to the Fianna Fáil ticket in Dún Laoghaire.
Ms Hanafin has told senior Fianna Fáil figures that the vote she secured from delegates warrants her to be added as the running mate of Cormac Devlin.
However, the party is split over whether to add the ex-TD to the ticket for fear such a move could scupper any prospect of Fianna Fáil taking a seat in Dún Laoghaire.
The decision over whether to add Ms Hanafin to the ticket will be taken by the party's National Constituencies Committee in the coming days.
A senior party source said adding Ms Hanafin is under "active consideration".
Mr Devlin defeated Ms Hanafin at the selection convention in Killiney Castle by four votes.
