Government records its strongest opinion poll result in years

THE Government has recorded its strongest opinion poll result in years and has broken the 40pc barrier with weeks to go before the General Election.
The latest poll shows Fine Gael up one point to 32pc, while Labour is up two points to 9pc – giving the Coalition 41pc of the vote going into next year’s General Election.
The Red C Sunday Business Post poll shows Fianna Fail down two points to 17pc and Sinn Fein up one to 19pc.
Independents are on 14pc, the Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit are on 3pc. While Renua, Social Democrats and the Green Party are on 2pc.
The poll was of more than 1,000 voters taken between Monday and Tuesday this week.
