Gallagher still hopeful of EU poll victory

SITTING MEP Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher, who is in a protracted battle with Marian Harkin for the country's last seat in the European Parliament, has compared the gap between them to two votes in a local election.
As a full recheck of the constituency's 663,703 ballots continues, Gallagher said the difference of 275 votes was a margin of just 0.03pc.
He added: "That's almost similar to two votes in a local election, so there is a possibility.
"But I'm a realist and whatever the outcome will be, I will accept that. I've no choice and will decide where I go from there."
