Fitzgerald mourns loss of her mother
Condolences have been expressed to Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald following the death of her mother.
Anna Ryan (née Hayes), from Newbridge in Co Kildare, passed away early on Friday.
Ms Ryan was in her 90s and is survived by her four children, including Ms Fitzgerald.
Her husband Tadhg, who was an army officer, died a number of years ago.
Fine Gael chairman Dan Neville last night paid tribute to Ms Ryan on behalf of the party.
He said he is in no doubt that Ms Ryan was very proud of her daughter following her successful rise through the ranks of Irish politics.
"I would like to pay my deepest sympathies to Frances, and her wider family, following the passing of Anna Ryan," Mr Neville told the Irish Independent.
"Frances is extremely highly regarded within the party and all our thoughts are with her and will remain with her over the coming days."
The arrangements for Ms Ryan's funeral have been released.
Her remains will be removed on Sunday evening to arrive at St Conleth's Parish Church, Newbridge for 8pm.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for 3pm on Monday with burial afterwards at St Conleth's Cemetery in Newbridge.
