Fianna Fail attacks Sinn Fein move on rent certainty as 'gutter stuff'

Fianna Fáil has described Sinn Fein's bill on rent certainty as "gutter stuff" in a move that will significantly heighten tensions between the two main opposition parties.
TDs will on Tuesday debate the private members bill which proposes to link rent to the rate of inflation in a bid to tackle the rental crisis.
But it's emerged Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael will unite and vote down the bill on Thursday.
Fianna Fáil Environment spokesman Barry Cowen attacked Sinn Fein over introducing the bill, given that the issue of rent is being examined by the joint committee on Housing.
"It is completely opportunistic from Sinn Fein which doesn't surprise me. The Oireachtas committee is publishing its report on Friday. They should respect that process instead of going down this route. It's gutter stuff," Mr Cowen told independent.ie.
