Ex-Fianna Fáil TD considering Independent bid

Former Fianna Fáil backbench TD Noel O'Flynn is considering contesting the upcoming General Election as an Independent.
While Mr O'Flynn (63) has made no final decision about his candidacy, he confirmed his Fianna Fáil membership has lapsed.
Mr O'Flynn has repeatedly warned that FF is cannibalising itself with Micheál Martin's leadership offering Irish voters "no policies, no traction and no identity".
He claimed that Mr Martin was only ever "an interim leader". The former TD said he will now clarify his election stance within the next few weeks.
Mr O'Flynn said he was now being strongly urged by supporters to contest next year's election but had not yet made up his mind.
However, he warned that, should he do so, it would not be as a Fianna Fáil candidate.
