Costello to fight European Election

LABOUR has chosen sitting Dublin Euro MEP Emer Costello to stand in the forthcoming election.
Delegates at a special convention in Liberty Hall today endorsed the former Lord Mayor of Dublin as their only candidate.
The convention was addressed by party leader Eamon Gilmore and deputy leader Joan Burton.
Mr Gilmore struck a bullish note saying he did not believe that the local council and European elections on May 23 next will be difficult for his party.
"Every candidate standing is standing to win," he said.
Ms Costello has been a member of the European Parliament since February 2012 when she took over from Proinsias De Rossa who retired from public life.
The candidate is known for her campaigning on several issues, especially in the Dublin inner city.
But she faces stiff competition with eight candidates already known to be contesting the three seats allocated to Dublin.
