Dressed as butterflies, bumblebees and a puddle of water, campaign group Friends Of The Earth staged a colourful protest outside the Department of Communications Energy and Natural Resources.
The campaigners handed in a 14,000-strong petition to Denis Naughten yesterday calling for the Environment Minister to be given responsibility for wildlife and water protection.
The petition was started in response to the Taoiseach's proposed abolition of the Department of the Environment.
The group waved speech bubbles placards saying "Naughten for Nature".
