Alan Kelly likely to become Labour's next Deputy Leader

Early tallies suggest that Junior Transport Minister Alan Kelly will be the next Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.
Boxes were opened by count staff shortly after 1pm at and Mr Kelly has a sizeable lead over his fellow contenders Sean Sherlock, Ciara Conway and Michael McCarthy.
Initial tallies of 300 votes show Mr Kelly is on 47.5 pc, Mr McCarthy is on 21.6 pc, Mr Sherlock is on 17.6 pc and Ms Conway is on 13.3 pc.
The full announcement on the Deputy Leadership wont be made until after the Leader is announced later this afternoon.
