Poland seeks extradition of attacker

Polish authorities are seeking the extradition of a man serving a nine-year prison sentence for two attacks on women during break-ins.

Yesterday the High Court heard that Marek Czerner (33), who is detained at Midlands Prison, is wanted in Poland on four charges of robbery allegedly committed during the late 1990s.

Czerner, formerly of Northwood, Santry, Dublin, was jailed earlier this year after admitting the two break-ins. In one incident he targeted two women and slashed one with a knife while demanding money.

He also admitted breaking into the home of a Dublin couple and punching a woman in the face.

Czerner was arrested yesterday morning on foot of a European Arrest Warrant
