Poisonous snake found in box of grapes

A poisonous snake was discovered in a box of grapes in a factory in Co Armagh factory.

The 10-inch suspected adder was found during a quality check by a worker at Orchard County Foods in Craigavon, Co Armagh.

The grapes were imported from Spain. The staff member informed managers and nobody was hurt.

The Ulster Society for the Protection of Animals was called and brought the reptile to the City Reptiles shop in Belfast.

A spokesman for Orchard County Foods said: "We would normally buy a large quantity of grapes throughout Europe.

"In the pre-production checks last night it was identified a small snake was in the side of a box.

"The management were contacted and in turn they contacted the USPCA to remove the unwanted guest."
