Planned loyalist flag protest march in Dublin scrapped
PLANS to hold a protest outside Leinster House in Dublin on Saturday have been scrapped.
The protest was intended to highlight the controversy and subsequent violence in Belfast over the flying of the union flag at City Hall.
Loyalist organiser Willie Frazer finally made contact with the gardai today and told them his intended visit to Dublin was being postponed.
Gardai had been awaiting word from Mr Frazer since last week about his protest before completing security arrangements.
Mr Frazer’s associate, Barry Halliday said this afternoon that gardai had been happy to facilitate a protest at the weekend but said such short notice might cause problems.
