Plane suffers cracked windscreen

A CRACK in the windscreen of a passenger aircraft forced it to make an unscheduled landing.

The Air Southwest flight from Newquay in Cornwall to Glasgow, which had 24 passengers and three crew members on board, was diverted to Dublin after the fault was discovered.

A spokesman said: "As a precaution, the crew decided to divert to the nearest airport en route, which was Dublin."

The Bombardier Dash 8 left Cornwall at 5pm on Monday and was due in Scotland at 6.45pm. The passengers boarded a replacement aircraft at Dublin and arrived in Glasgow at 10.50pm.
