Pitch given go-ahead after appeal over bull

PLANNERS have given a soccer club permission to develop a floodlit astroturf pitch, despite a warning from adjoining landowners that a bull on their property could pose a threat.

Kerry County Council had already approved an application from Ballyhar Dynamos FC. A third party appeal was lodged with An Bord Pleanala by Pat and Maura Scott, whose dairy farm and home is alongside the grounds at Rusheen, Firies, 10km from Killarney. They said an ongoing nuisance has arisen due to footballs entering their land. The Scotts said those that trespass did so at some risk given the presence of a bull on occasions.

The decision of the council was upheld, subject to conditions
