Pipe bomb found near primary school

The device was found in the Forthriver Road area of Belfast

A pipe bomb has been discovered close to a primary school in Belfast.

The device was found in the Forthriver Road area in the north of the city on Thursday afternoon, police said.

A suspicious object was discovered by a member of the public at about 3pm in a lane close to Forthriver Primary.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Army technical experts attended and confirmed it to be a viable pipe bomb-type device."
