GARDAI believe passers-by had a lucky escape after a viable explosive device may have been picked up as it lay in the front garden of a house.
Local residents had to be evacuated after a viable improvised explosive device was found outside a house at Turvey Avenue, Inchicore, Co Dublin.
An Army bomb disposal team was called out by the gardai as the area was cordoned off and local residents were moved away from the area.
The device was made safe after a controlled explosion was carried out.
But it is believed that the explosive may have been handled or moved before the gardai were alerted and the bomb disposal team was called out.
The remains of the bomb were later handed over to gardai for forensic examination.
