Pensioner killed in freak accident on farm

A PENSIONER died under a car at a farm in Co Donegal after a freak accident.

The man who was in his 70s, is understood to have been working on a car when it collapsed on top of him on the outskirts of Ballybofey.

A full investigation into the incident has been launched into the tragedy in the townland of Glencovitt. 

Locals say the man, who has a grown-up family, was discovered by his son who also works alongside him.

Gardai and the emergency services are at the scene.

The Health and Safety Authority have also been informed of the tragedy and are expected to launch a full investigation into the incident.
