Pensioner dies after being hit by car in Longford
A WOMAN in her 70s has become the latest person to die on our roads after being hit by a car yesterday evening.
The elderly woman was crossing the main Dublin/Sligo road at Edgeworthstown in Co Longford when she was hit by a passing car.
The accident happened at 7.30pm on the N4.
She was the second person to die on Irish roads over the weekend after a 42-year-old man was killed when his car collided with a bridge in Co Kilkenny on Saturday night.
The crash happened at 9.15pm on the N9 at Knockwilliam, Ballyhale.
Gardai say the man who died was the sole occupant of the car.
