Pedestrian killed when struck by a car early this morning

A male pedestrian was killed early this morning after he was struck by a car in Finglas, Co Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating the incident which occurred at approximately 3am inbound on the N2 dual carriageway.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, and Gardaí have not yet established his identity.

The driver of the car, a 50-year-old man, was uninjured.

The road remains partially closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination of the scene, and local diversions are in place.

The road is expected to open shortly after 10am this morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who travelled on that stretch of road between 2.30am and 3am today, to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01 6667500, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
