Pedestrian killed in Dublin road accident

Gardai have launched an investigation after the death of a woman who was struck by a car in Ballyfermot last night.

The incident occurred on the Ballyfermot Road, Dublin, at around 10pm.

The woman in her 70s was taken to St James Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

There was no one else injured in the collision.

The road was closed as gardai carried out a forensic examination, but has since been reopened.

The road has since been reopened.
