Pedestrian in her 30s killed while walking with child

The fatal one-car collision happened in Balbriggan today.

A 31-year-old mother has been killed in a road crash in Balbriggan in north County Dublin.

The woman had been strolling with her baby in a buggy when the crash happened, just before 12.30pm at the entrance to an industrial estate on the Dublin Road on the outskirts of the town.

Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene.

The woman's child was injured and was taken to Temple Street Hospital. The driver of the vehicle was removed to Beaumont Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The town of Balbriggan is in shock as news of the tragic accident spreads.

It is understood that wrapping paper was found at the scene, so the mum may have been carrying a present at the time she was killed.

Local diversions were put in place for several hours following the accident.
