Pedestrian (33) seriously injured in early morning collision

A 33-year-old pedestrian is in a serious condition this morning after a car collision in Cork.

The man was injured in the accident at around 3.20am on the Cork to Limerick Road (N20) at Deerpark, Charleville.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The male driver (46) and other occupants of the car were uninjured in the collision.

The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination and is expected to remain closed until around lunchtime.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on that stretch of road between 3am and 3.30am to contact the Gardaí in Mallow on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
