BUS EIREANN passengers will be faced with a raft of service withdrawals from tomorrow.

The company will axe eight routes and reduce frequencies on another 24 because of the economic downturn, which has resulted in a 10pc drop in demand for public transport.

Among the services being withdrawn are route 418 Galway-Kiltullagh, route 271 Tralee-Cork, and route 122 Portumna-Dublin.

Frequencies will be reduced on 24 services, including route 40 Cork-Tralee, route 337 Miltown Malbay-Ennis, route 14 Limerick-Killarney, and there will be changes to bus services in Navan town.
