PLANS to raise the cost of residential parking permits in the capital by 25pc were postponed last night by Dublin City Council, writes Ailish O'Hora.
Councillors were expected to vote through the increases at a meeting but the vote was postponed after a number of councillors voiced their opposition to the increases. Committee chair Andrew Montague said there was now a possibility that the increase could be lower than 25pc.
More than 18,000 Dublin residents face €40 to €50 increases in the cost of the annual permits, which allow them to park on the streets outside their homes.
