Paramedics suffer assault

TWO paramedics were treated in hospital after they were assaulted while attempting to resuscitate an unconscious man.

The attack happened in St Mary's Park, Limerick, in the early hours of yesterday morning. The ambulance workers got an emergency call concerning an unresponsive man in the Nicholas Street area shortly before 3am.

After arriving at the scene and beginning to assist the man, they were attacked by another man. One of the paramedics was struck on the shoulder while his colleague was hit on the leg.

The assailant was arrested. and brought to Henry Street garda station where he was questioned and later released.
