Pair arrested after armed raid

Two people have been arrested over an armed robbery

A man and a woman have been arrested over an armed robbery.

An imitation gun and cash were also seized by detectives investigating the hold-up in Main Street, Blanchardstown, west Dublin.

A man wielding a firearm entered a shop at around 11.40pm on Monday night and threatened staff before escaping with a sum of money.

Gardai said no shots were fired during the raid and no-one was physically injured.

During a follow-up search, a man in his late teens was arrested and a sum of money recovered.

In a further search at a house in Briarswood, Blanchardstown, at 2am, a woman was also arrested and an imitation firearm seized.

Both are being held under the Offences Against The State Act at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
